How-To Guide


Website
  • The toolbar includes options for creating new folders, albums, or groups.
  • You can also upload multiple files at once using the Upload Files button.

  • Toolbar

  • Click on the appropriate file(s).
  • The row(s) will be highlighted and a pop-up menu will appear.

  • Selecting Files

  • To upload files, click the Upload Files button from the Toolbar.
  • To select files to upload, click the Browse button (as shown below). The files will immediatey begin uploading after selecting them. The files will automatically appear in the files table below.
  • Track the progress of the files as they upload.
  • Adobe Flash Player is required. If you do not already have it installed, you may get it here.

  • Upload Files

  • The Quick Upload, found at the bottom of your My Gigmax page, is designed specifically for small files (approximately 1MB or less).
  • Only one file can be uploaded at once.
  • The Advanced Upload application, ideal for multiple and large uploads, can be found by simply clicking the Upoad Files button on the toolbar (see above for more information).

  • Files can be stored in folders created using the Toolbar (above) to allow for better organization.

  • To open one of your folders, click on the folder name.
  • To go back a folder, click the Up icon from the Toolbar (above) (Up Folder).

  • Files and folders can be downloaded from your Gigmax at any time.
  • To download a file, select the file. Click the Download icon (Downloading Files) from the pop-up menu.
  • If you choose to only download one file, a dialogue box, with suggestions on how to open the file, will appear. Select the appropriate option.
  • Multiple files may be downloaded simultaneously, by selecting all desired files at once.
  • When downloading multiple files, a .zip file will be generated that contains all the selected files.
  • Entire folders can also be downloaded. A .zip file will be generated that maintains the structure of the folder you wish to download.

  • To delete a file, select the file. Click the Delete button (Delete) from the pop-up menu that appears.
  • Multiple files may be deleted simultaneously by selecting all desired files at once.

  • Uploaded files will automatically retain the original files' name.
  • To rename a file, select the file. Click the Rename button from the pop-up menu that appears.
  • Enter the new file name, then click Save.
  • Only one file can be renamed at once.

  • Files can be made public or private. By default, all files uploaded (besides Photo Albums) are private, so only you can see it.
  • If you wish to make a file public, so it appears on your Community page and anyone can see it, select the file then click the Public button (Public).

  • Sorting Files

  • Files can be sorted according to Type, Name, Size, Status, and Date Modified. Click on the corresponding heading in your files table, and an arrow will appear. Continue clicking until the desired direction is selected.

  • The Stats box appears on the right side of the screen at all times.
  • It contains details of all uploaded files. Files are described according to type: Documents, Music, Photos, Videos, and Other.

    Create Album
  • To create a new photo album, mouseover the New button in the Toolbar, then click New Album. If you do not see the New Album button in the Toolbar, you may have to add the Albums application on the right side.
  • Enter a title for your album.
  • All photo albums are automatically stored as public. To make an album private, change the Status accordingly (see here).

    Upload Photos
  • To upload photos to your album, click on the album on your files page.
  • Click on the Upload Photos button in the Toolbar (see below).
  • Select desired pictures. (Tip: To select many photos at once, hold down Control or Shift, and select all of them).

  • To add captions or rotate your photos, mouseover the Edit button in the Toolbar, and click Edit Photos.

    Organize Album
  • To adjust the order of photos as they appear in your album, mouseover the Edit button in the Toolbar, and click Organize Photos.
  • Click on the photo, then drag and drop it to desired location in the album.
  • When complete, click Save.

    Create Group
  • To create a new group, mouseover the New button in the Toolbar, then click New Group. If you do not see the New Group button in the Toolbar, you may have to add the Groups application on the right side.
  • Enter a title for your group.

    Invite Users
  • To create a new group, mouseover the New button in the Toolbar, then click New Group. If you do not see the New Group button in the Toolbar, you may have to add the Groups application on the right side.
  • Enter a title for your group.

  • Your Gigpad is where you may save notes and extra information.
  • Like all Gigmax files, your Gigpad can be accessed anywhere.
  • To add notes to your Gigpad, enter information, then click Save.

  • Gigmarks is our virtual bookmarking feature, allowing you to save website addresses, so you can access them from anywhere.
  • Great for a student doing research in the library. He/She can save websites for their bibliography/works cited. To save the address, type the URL and an identifying title into the appropriate boxes. Select Add Gigmark.

  • All files made public appear on your Community page, meaning anyone can see them.
  • To make a file public, see here.
  • The Community box appears on the right side of the screen at all times.
  • It contains a link to your community page, where all your public files are displayed. You can send the community page link to other users, encouraging them to view your files and albums.
