My Files
Toolbar
  • The Toolbar includes options for altering files.
  • To change a file, it must be selected.
  • The icons will be grayed out when no files are selected.

    Selecting Files
  • Click on the appropriate file(s).
  • The file name should be highlighted and a check mark will appear in the first box.

    Sorting Files in Folders
  • Files can be stored in folders to allow for better organization.

  • Create a New Folder
  • To create a new folder, click the Create Folder icon (Create a New Folder).
  • A pop-up box will then appear where you can enter your desired folder name.

  • Navigate Through Your Folders
  • To open one of your folders, click on the folder name.
  • To go back a folder, click the Up icon from the toolbar (Up Folder).

  • Move Files/Folders into Folders
  • To move files or folders into another folder, select the desired files or folders to move, then click the Move to Folder icon from the toolbar (Move to Folder).
  • A pop-up box will appear where you can select the folder you wish to move your files to from the drop-down menu.

  • Private & Public
  • The Private/Public icons allow you to control who can see your files. Public files are visible to anyone, including non-Gigmax members.
  • When files are uploaded onto Gigmax, they are automatically stored as Private. To make a file Public, click the open padlock icon (Public) from the toolbar. To make a file Private, click the padlock icon (Private).
  • The status can be changed on multiple files simultaneously by selecting all desired files at once.

  • Renaming a File
  • Uploaded files will automatically retain the original files' name.
  • To rename a file, select the file. Click the Rename icon (Rename) from the toolbar.
  • Enter the new file name in the pop-up box, then click Save.
  • Only one file can be renamed at once.

  • Deleting Files
  • To delete a file, select the file. Click the Delete icon (Delete) from the toolbar.
  • Multiple files may be deleted simultaneously by selecting all desired files at once.

  • Downloading Files & Folders
  • Files can be downloaded from your Gigmax at any time.
  • To download a file, select the file. Click the Download icon (Downloading Files) from the toolbar.
  • If you choose to only download one file, a dialogue box, with suggestions on how to open the file, will appear. Select the appropriate option.
  • Multiple files may be downloaded simultaneously, by selecting all desired files at once.
  • When downloading multiple files, a .zip file will be generated that contains all the selected files. To learn how to unzip a file, go here.
  • Entire folders can also be downloaded. A .zip file will be generated that maintains the structure of the folder you wish to download.

  • Sorting Files
  • Files can be sorted according to Type, Name, Size, Status, and Date Uploaded. Click on the corresponding heading in your files table, and an arrow will appear. Continue clicking until the desired direction is selected.

    Quick File Upload
  • The Quick Upload, found at the bottom of your My Files page, is designed specifically for small files (approximately 1MB or less).
  • Only one file can be uploaded at once.
  • The Advanced Upload application, ideal for multiple and large uploads, can be found under the Upload Files tab (see below for more information).

    Stats
  • The Stats box appears on the right side of the screen at all times.
  • It contains details of all uploaded files. Files are described according to type: Music, Images, Videos, Documents, Other.
  • Total space used (out of 1024MB/1GB) is recorded on the bottom of the Stats box.

    My Community
  • The GigFriends box appears on the right side of the screen at all times.
  • It contains a link to your community page, where all your public files are displayed. You can send the community page link to other users, encouraging them to view your files and albums.

    Upload Files
  • This application is designed for larger files (approximately 1MB or bigger) or for uploading multiple files at once.
  • Track the progress of the files as they upload.
  • Adobe Flash Player is required. If you do not already have it installed, you may get it here.
  • To select files to upload, click the Browse button (as shown below). To remove files from the upload list, click Remove. When the desired list is complete, click the Upload button.

    My Albums
    Create Album
  • To create a new photo album, click the red Create Album button in the top right corner of your My Albums page (See Figure 1 below).
  • Enter a title and description for your album (Figure 2 below).
  • All photo albums are automatically stored as public. To make an album private, change the Status accordingly.
  • Click Create Album.


  • Add Photos
  • To upload pictures to your album, click Browse under the Add Photos tab.
  • Select desired pictures. (Tip: To select many photos at once, hold down Control or Shift, and select all of them).
  • To monitor the status of the uploaded photos, watch the green progress bar adjacent to Browse. When all photos have been uploaded, the status will read Complete.
  • As soon as each photo is completely uploaded, it will appear below the progress bar. Once this occurs, you may immediately rotate the photo, add a caption, or mark it as your album cover. Then click the Save button that appears next to each photo.
  • Uploaded photos can be deleted at any time by clicking Delete.


  • Organize Album
  • To adjust the order of photos as they appear in your album, select the Organize Album tab.
  • Click on the photo, then drag and drop it to desired location in the album.
  • When complete, click Save.


  • View Album
  • Completed albums can be viewed at any time under My Albums.
  • To view an album, either click on the cover photo or select the View icon (View Album).
  • To edit an existing album, select the Edit icon (Edit Album).
  • Photo captions and album covers can be altered at any time by selecting the Edit Photos tab under the Edit icon. Remember to click Save when finished making changes.
  • Album Name, Description, and Status can be altered at any time by selecting the Edit Album Info tab under the Edit icon. Remember to click Save when finished making changes.
  • Albums may be deleted at any time by clicking the Delete icon (Edit Album).


  • My Gigmarks
  • Gigmarks is our virtual bookmarking feature, allowing you to save website addresses, so you can access them from anywhere.
  • Great for a student doing research in the library. He/She can save websites for their bibliography/works cited. To save the address, type the URL and an identifying title into the appropriate boxes. Select Add Gigmark.
  • Gigmarks works best with our Gigmax Desktop Application. You can simply press Ctrl + G while on a website, and the URL will automatically be saved in your Gigmarks.

  • My Gigpad
  • Your Gigpad is where you may save notes and extra information.
  • Like all Gigmax files, your Gigpad can be accessed anywhere.
  • To add notes to your Gigpad, enter information, then click Save.
